Part 1/Chapter 3

"Boosterators, on!" Loew bellowed.
Joe looked up from his written test, and Boom gave him a look. Noticing that the other members were rushing into their rooms presumably to put on their suits, Joe ran over to his locker. Shuddering from his previous experience, Joe held his breath, and walked in. Relaxing this time, he was already suited before he even felt a hint of uncomfortableness.
"Joe, get out here! It's time for your test mission!" Boom, ironically, boomed from outside Joe's room.
"I'm coming!" Joe cried, slowly puttering with the clanky suit to his door.
Getting used to the armour, Joe quickly began to take longer strides, adapting to the overall clunkyness. Quickly finding himself back in the main room, Joe stood in line with the other troops.
"Joe, you are not in ANY way prepared for your first mission, and as much as I'd love to see you get blasted out in the cold, hard real world they call the real world-" Loew began, pacing around the team.
"You said real world twice. Thats bad grammar, you have bad grammar." Joe snorted.
"And you have a helmet, so shut that Kokoromori scrotum you call a mouth!" Low snapped, glaring at Joe.
"Hey, I have one of those!" Nebit playfully grinned.
"We know Nebit, we know...." Boom sighed, putting a hand on his forehead.
"Pervert...." Nebit muttered.
"Now, Toby has set up the virtual training field. You will go inside, and perform a task we have prepared for you." Loew continued, a hint of annoyance stood out in his voice.
"You do know I have absolutely no training or street skills whatsoever." Joe sighed.
"We knew that from the start..." Toby muttered.
"Now, step into the boxy thing over there." Loew ordered, pointing at the boxy thing.
"You mean Holodeck, sir?" Toby corrected.
"Do you want us to get sued? Do you know HOW many copyrights-" Loew began to rant. Joe just sighed, and walked into the Holodeck, getting a thumbs up from Boom and Mindy, and a frantic wave from Nebit. Looking inside of the room, it was green, and had a flashing red button on the wall.
"Press the red button!" Toby called from the command centre.
Joe took a deep breath, and pressed the flashing red button. Suddenly, everything went white.
                       -----------------------------------------
Joe was on a sidewalk, in his full armour. A bank was overflowing with civilians, and a large Roopushin was holding up a teller with 2 cement pillars.
"Give me all your money." The Roopushin ordered with almost no emotion.
"Aah, okay, don't shoot me." The Teller boringly cried, robotically reaching down and handing the criminal a money bag.
The Roopushin nodded, and spotted Joe. Suddenly, his eyes turned red, and all Joe saw was a cement pillar rushing for his forehead. Dodging it, he turned around to see the criminal rushing for him, money bag in one hand, cement pillar in the other. One of Joe's ghosts let out a gasp, and popped out of his right hand.
"What do we do boss?" The Ghost asked frantically.
"What CAN you guys do?" Joe cried, looking around for anything he could use to attack the approaching killing machine.
The Ghost thought for a second, and suddenly let out an "Aah!". Gathering a bunch more of his fellow ghosts, they suddenly materialized into a black axe, decorated with skulls and steaming with black mist.
"Don't worry, we didn't know we could do that either." One of the ghosts quipped. Joe shrugged, and swung the axe, knocking the Roopushin away with it's bladed edge. Bleeding, the Criminal threw down his money bag, and lunged at Joe with his pillar. Joe blocked it, but quickly became overpowered by the Roopushin's sheer power. Letting out a Roar, Joe's attack rose, and he pushed his foe away. Gripping his axe, Joe lunged at the stunned foe, and sliced his digital body in two.
"GAME OVER!" A robotic voice announced, which was followed by flashing black letters spelling "Play Again?" in the sky.
"That was almost too easy...." Joe muttered, looking at his Axe. The weapon quickly disappeared, and his ghosts traveled back into his hands, giving Joe a wave. Joe gave them a little gesture of approval, and looked around. He actually had no idea how to get out.
"Why isn't he getting out?" Mindy asked impatiently, staring at the Holodecks security camera.
"Oh god, oh god!" Toby suddenly cried, flailing 4 of his feet, "OH GOD!"
"Oh god WHAT, Toby." Boom snapped.
"We set his level on Legendary. He has to fight a Boss!" Toby said with a look of horror.
"May Arceus have mercy on his soul..." Loew sighed.
"You do know this wont kill him, right?"
"Darn it, it's fun when they get roughed up a little...."
Joe suddenly felt a hint of dread. Looking at the bank again, the sudden sound of a cannon charging its laser was heard.
"MAKE A SHIELD OR SOMETHING!" Joe screamed at his ghosts. The ghosts panicked, and materialized as nothing more then a giant sandwich.
"We are fighting CANNON FIRE, NOT HUNGER!" Joe yelled, quickly causing the ghosts to turn into the preferred form. The cannon blasted, and Joe reflected it at a light post with his shield. Looking at his foe, Joe's mouth opened, and it opened wide. His boss fight, was with nothing more then a pissed off Genosekuto.
                           ---------------------------------
"Joe, what type of attack is coming out of its cannon?" Toby asked, using a microphone embedded in this control station.
Joe grimaced, and dodged another scorching hot blast of Genosekuto's cannon, this time hitting a bunch of garbage cans, setting them ablaze.
"Fire, it's fire!" Joe answered, uncomfortable knowing the type advantage that the monstrous insect had.
"Son of a firetruck, Joe, your going to have to fight it!" Toby moaned.
"You guys really know how to train a newby, don't you?" Joe snapped, gripping his ghostly Axe and lifting his shield as Genosekuto readied his weapon for another go. Roaring, it's cannon blazed, and Joe blocked it once again. However, activating it's thrusters, the creature lunged through its own attack, slashing Joe to the side and knocking his weapons away. Digitally brushed, he jumped to the right, dodging Genosekuto's large metallic feet, hiding inside a patch of bushes.
"Alright guys, give me something good." Joe whispered. A ghost appeared nodding, and quickly transformed itself and others into a flamethrower. Joe grinned, and strapped the gasoline pack onto his back, and jumped out at Genosekuto, who roared at Joe's sudden type advantage.
"Cheesy Catchphrase." Joe snickered, igniting a flame. The monster let out a whelp, and a cry of anger as his cannon melted from the heat of the fire. Joe laughed, but quickly sighed as his flamethrower quickly ran out of juice.
"Well I'm sorry, your running out!" A ghost snapped, pointing at the two other weapons lying on the ground.
Genosekuto grabbed Joe, lifting him up and crushing his neck. Joe groaned, deciding to give into the simulated pain. Before he could suffer his digital demise, a navy blue shape suddenly lunged at his foe, toppling it to the ground. Genosekuto growled, and jetted forward to the blue Pokemon, ready for a kill. The other Pokemon only sighed, and lifted his hand. Water from a nearby sewage drain suddenly slithered up into his hand, forming what could be seen as a sword. Jumped high into the sky, the Pokemon spread it's Red wings, and flew down onto Genosekuto, stabbing the sword into it's neck. A mixture of screams and explosions came out of the creature, and it finally fell, turning it and everything around Joe and the helper into digital lines.
"Hey, thanks for that." Joe smiled, giving his savour a hand.
"Thats for what? I did nothing more then to satify my need to kill, I simply had to save you in the process." The Pokemon said coldly. He was a Crimgan, with a navy blue colour and red set of wings. Picking up Joe's set of ghostly weapons, he gave them a little inspection and swiftly threw them into Joe's arms.
"Nice parlour trick by the way. And, incase you care, I'm Karmir."
Karmir left with a scoff, and flew over to his bedroom. Joe stood at the entrance of the holodeck, confused and insulted. What first began as feelings of excitement, feelings of doubt, then generally being frightened, has turned into a combination of all. What was he actually going to end up doing here?
